Irvine, CA – March 13 – USA Women's Senior National Team Head Coach
Adam Krikorian has announced the roster for the first competition of 2019, the FINA Intercontinental Tournament in Perth, Australia. Currently ranked number one in the world, the United States has taken gold at this event in three of the last four years. With women's college season ongoing, the Team USA roster will feature three high school athletes alongside a host of Olympic champions and veterans.
Team captain and two-time Olympic champion
Maggie Steffens (Danville, CA/Stanford/NYAC) will be joined by fellow 2016 Olympic champions
Rachel Fattal (Seal Beach, CA/UCLA/SOCAL),
Kaleigh Gilchrist (Newport Beach, CA/USC/NYAC),
Ashleigh Johnson (Miami, FL/Princeton/NYAC) and
Kiley Neushul (Isla Vista, CA/Stanford/NYAC).
High school athletes and rising talents Abbi Hill (Santa Barbara, CA/Dos Pueblos HS/Santa Barbara 805), Jewel Roemer (Martinez, CA/Acalanes HS/680) and Honnie Vandeweghe-O'Shea (Laguna Hills, CA/Santa Margarita HS/SET) round out the roster and will earn valuable experience against some of the top teams in the world.
Team USA will open play on March 26 when they take on China at 10:45am local time (7:45pm pt on March 25). That will be followed by matches against Japan and New Zealand to close out group play. A champion will be crowned on March 31. Live streaming is available on FINA TV by
