The A1 Ethniki League once again returned from another postponement caused by COVID-19 as Men's National Team athletes continued to perform well in their return to play. First it was another matchup between Team USA teammates as
Drew Holland with Chios took on Glyfada with
Ben Stevenson and
Dylan Woodhead. This time it was Chios coming out on top as they took an early 4-1 lead against Glyfada and held off a late comeback to win 8-7 behind a solid performance in net by Holland while Stevenson notched two goals for Glyfada.
Alex Bowen and Apollon took down Panionious 13-8 with Bowen drawing a key penalty early on in the game.
Johnny Hooper put on a show for Palaio Faliro as he led the way with five goals in their 7-6 victory over PAOK with
Chancellor Ramirez also putting in a solid effort in the victory.
Matt Farmer found the back of the net twice for Peristeri in a 12-4 victory over Volous as they continue their great season sitting in second place in the standings.
Max Irving led the way with three goals as Olympiacos pounded Ethnikos 18-4 with
Hannes Daube also notching one goal in the victory. Next up the Greek teams return to action for two more games each this week. See above schedule.
Kacper Langiewicz and Kaposvari also returned to action in the Hungarian League as they took on 5th place BVSC. Kaposvari kept it close early on as they trailed by just three goals at 7-4 at halftime. Kaposvari tried to fight back in the second half but for every goal they scored BVSC had an answer as they increased their lead to 14-10 at the end of the third. BVSC continued to pile up goals in the final quarter as they went on to win 19-12. See below for highlights. Kaposvari is off this week and will return to action on April 10 against KSI.
Jug with
Alex Obert returned to action this past weekend in the final round of the Adriatic League as they looked to win another Adriatic League Championship. First, they took on Jadran in the semifinals. It was a close game early on as it was all level at 3-3 at the end of the first. Jug then took control in the second as they jumped out to an 8-5 advantage. Jug continued their momentum to start the third as they increased their lead to 11-7 and held off a late comeback by Jadran as they went on to win 12-10 and advance to the Championship game against Radnicki. The Championship game proved to be another competitive battle as the teams were level 4-4 at the end of the first. Radnicki then took the lead in the second as they went up 8-7 at halftime. Jug fought back in the third to tie it at 10-10 but Radnicki pulled away in the final frame to win 14-12. Jug will return to action in the Croatian League on March 31 against Primorje.
Luca Cupido grabbed his first win with Camogli this season as they took on Lavagna in Serie A2 action. Following back to back draws Camogli were looking for a win in this one as they jumped out to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first. Lavagna had other ideas though as they fought back to tie game at 4-4 at halftime. After the teams exchanged goals to start the third Camogli reeled off three straight goals including one from Cupido as they took an 8-5 lead before Lavagna pulled one back to make it 8-6 at the end of the third. Camogli continued to build on their advantage in the final quarter as Cupido fired in another goal as they went on to win 12-8 to maintain first place in their group.
