Biography

The three-time All-American competed for UCLA and made his Senior National Team debut at the 2013 FINA World Championship in Barcelona, Spain. A strong defender that returned to Senior National Team competition following the 2016 Games.

What was the moment you knew you wanted to represent your country in the Olympic Games? Was it always in the sport of water polo?
I knew I wanted to represent the USA in the Olympics Games at a young age. I loved to swim, but I also loved to ski. Once I began water polo and made my first USA National water polo team, I knew I had a unique opportunity to play, compete, and represent my country alongside other great American and world Athletes. 
What is your hidden talent?
I can hold my breath for two minutes. 
What is your favorite karaoke song?
“What I Got” by Sublime. 
If you could compete in another sport during the Olympic Games what would it be and why?
Downhill skiing because skiing is my favorite Winter Olympic sport. 
What is one thing you have to have with you when you travel?
Compex (Electrode Stimulation Technology). 
What is your biggest fear?
Failure. 
What causes are most dear to your heart?
Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
What are two truths and a lie about you?
I have traveled to more countries outside the USA than states in the USA.
I have dual citizenship. 
I have played water polo since I was 9 years old. 
Do you have a nickname? How did you get it?
“Chance” because it’s shorter and easier to pronounce. 
What song would be included on your life's soundtrack?
“People Watching” by Jack Johnson. 
What advice would you give your younger self, and what would you remind your older self?
I would tell myself to “just play and focus on the present.”
