Biography

A three-time All-American, he played for the University of Pacific and made his major Senior National Team debut at the 2018 FINA World Cup where he scored 7 goals. Hails from Reno, Nevada outside of the typical water polo hotbeds.

Competed for the University of the Pacific men’s water polo team…2017 All-American, 2nd Team All-Gold Coast Conference, and All-Gold Coast Conference Tournament...Scored 47 goals, made 42 assists, and tallied 89 total points.…Redshirted in 2016…2015 2nd Team All-American, 2nd Team All-MPSF, and MPSF All-Academic Team member...Scored 58 goals with 31 assists to lead Pacific in scoring...2014 All-American and Honorable Mention All-MPSF...Led Pacific with 54 goals in 26 games...Scored in all but two games with 16 multi-goal games...In 2013 scored 15 goals in 28 games as a freshman...Recorded two multi-goal games, including a pair of scores in the MPSF semifinals against USC and a 2-goal game against Navy...Netted his first collegiate goal in a win over Santa Clara in the season opener.

HIGH SCHOOL
Stevenson played water polo at both Reno High School and Coronado High School in Henderson, NV...Invited to train with the USA Junior National Team and played in the 2012 UANA Junior Pan American Championships in Montreal, Canada, leading the team to a runner-up finish.

What was the moment you knew you wanted to represent your country in the Olympic Games? Was it always in the sport of water polo?
Watching Michael Phelps dominate the Olympics when I was growing up started the dream of competing at the Games. I really only worked toward that goal through water polo.  
What is your hidden talent?
I like to play guitar. 
What is your favorite karaoke song?
“Sweet Caroline” 
If you could compete in another sport during the Olympic Games, what would it be and why?
Definitely basketball. I played a lot of basketball growing and still love the game! 
What is one thing you have to have with you when you travel?
A pillow. 
Biggest superstition if you have one?
I have to end every practice with a made shot.  
What is your biggest fear?
Snakes.

My Spanish teammates would always call me Benito.
