Puerto de la Cruz, Spain - August 23 - The USA Youth Women won the bronze medal today at the World Aquatics U18 World Championships with an 8-7 win over Hungary. Team captain Charlotte Raisin scored four goals and goalkeeper Gianna Adams recorded seven saves. Raisin and Adams earned spots on the Media All-Star Team while Adams was also named Best Goalkeeper at the tournament.

The bronze medal match began with a goal from Eden Coughran exactly one minute into the first quarter. Hungary responded with three consecutive scores but Raisin put away her first of the contest with seconds left to leave the score at 3-2 after one.

In the second, Raisin scored from six meters on a free throw to level the score. Emerson Mulvey put Team USA ahead on a power play strike before Hungary got another on a penalty shot goal. Raisin recorded a first half hat trick on a player advantage but a late Hungarian goal tied things up 5-5 at the break.

The second half began with defensive dominance both ways. Neither side could get any offense going through nearly seven minutes until Hungary scored the lone goal of the third quarter for a 6-5 lead headed to the final frame.

Kirra Pantaleon scored on a counterattack to begin the fourth and then Raisin added her fourth to give the Americans back the lead. Pantaleon scored again near midway through the quarter to go up by two but Hungary answered with just over three minutes remaining. In the final moments, Pantaleon and Adams each came up with huge steals to preserve the 8-7 win and claim the bronze medal.

Team USA went 3/7 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties while Hungary went 0/2 on power plays and 2/2 on penalties.
