Puerto de la Cruz, Spain - August 22 - The USA Youth Women lost to Australia 14-10 today in the semifinals at the World Aquatics U18 World Championships. Eden Coughran and Kirra Pantaleon scored three goals each while goalkeeper Gianna Adams tallied seven saves. Team USA will face Hungary in the bronze medal match tomorrow at 10:00am pt. This contest got started with an Emerson Mulvey power play goal but then Australia earned two penalties and converted both for a 2-1 edge.

In the second quarter, Maggie Ryan scored back-to-back goals to take the lead and Pantaleon put away her first goal on a player advantage. Three straight Aussie goals followed before Coughran leveled at 5-5 before halftime.

Coughran continued with her second score to begin the third period before the Australians knotted the score. Just over three minutes later, the Aussies scored two more to push ahead before Mia Fabros and Pantaleon responded to tie the game at 8-8 after three quarters.

The final frame began with back-to-back goals from Coughran and Pantaleon before Australia flipped the momentum and scored six straight times to claim a 14-10 victory.

Team USA went 4/8 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties while Australia went 4/6 on power plays and 2/2 on penalties.
