Puerto de la Cruz, Spain - August 21 - The USA Youth Women defeated the Netherlands 11-8 today in the quarterfinals at the World Aquatics U18 World Championships. Charlotte Raisin scored five goals and was named Player of the Match while goalkeeper Gianna Adams recorded eight saves. Team USA moves on to the semifinals against Australia tomorrow at 10:00am pt. This game started with Kirra Pantaleon putting the United States up early. The Netherlands scored twice from there before Maggie Ryan and Raisin got Team USA back on top 3-2.
The second quarter began and Emerson Mulvey doubled the lead. Raisin and Chrissy Flynn followed with two more scores prior to a late Dutch goal to set the score at 6-3.
After two scoreless minutes in the third, Raisin registered a hat trick before the Netherlands got one back. Ryan, Raisin, and Pantaleon scored the final three goals of the period to grab a 10-4 lead headed to the final frame.
The Dutch would not go quietly, scoring four goals in the fourth quarter, but could not catch the Americans. Pantaleon produced a second United States hat trick in the fourth to claim an 11-8 win.
Team USA went 3/6 on power plays with no penalties attempted while the Netherlands went 2/7 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties.
