USA Women Claim Inaugural Beach Title At FINA World Championships

Team USA celebrates a beach water polo championship in South Korea
Gwangju, South Korea - July 18 - The USA Women's National Team won the inaugural beach water polo title at the FINA World Championships after a 14-12 win over Spain. The victory capped a 4-0 run for Team USA at the exhibition event staged for the first time in Gwangju, South Korea. While no medals were awarded, athletes received certificates for ther participation in the historic event. Jamie Neushul scored seven goals in the victory to lead Team USA. The beach water polo roster for Team USA featured Neushul, younger sister Ryann Neushul, Jordan Raney, Gabby Stone, Brigitta Games, Jewel Roemer and Honnie Vandeweghe-O'Shea. Team USA, coach by Chris Lee and assisted by Liz Grimes, earned two victories over Spain alongside wins against China and Australia.
