Montreal, Canada - December 12 - The Women's Senior National Team continued their winning streak as they took down China 8-6 on the second day of the Canada Cup.
Rachel Fattal (Seal Beach, CA/UCLA/SOCAL) led the way on offense for Team USA with three goals.
Amanda Longan (Moorpark, CA/USC/SB 805) and
Gabby Stone (La Jolla, CA/Stanford/NYAC) split time in goal with Longan notching five saves and Stone recording two. Canada Cup action continues tomorrow with Team USA taking on host Canada at 4:00 PM PT.

Team USA jumped out of the gate as they scored three straight goals led by Fattal with two to take a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. To start the second quarter
Aria Fischer and
Maddie Musselman scored back-to-back goals to increase the lead to 5-0. China would fight back scoring two late goals as Team USA took a 5-2 advantage at halftime.
Sensing the momentum China scored several minutes into the third quarter to narrow Team USA's advantage to 5-3, but Fattal quickly answered on the power play to increase the lead back to 6-3 which is where it stood at the end of the third quarter. One minute into the fourth quarter
Stephania Haralabidis would put Team USA up by four goals at 7-3, but China responded with three straight goals to get right back in the game with two minutes left.
Jordan Raney put to bed any idea of a Chinese comeback as she scored a power play goal with :48 seconds left as Team USA won 8-6 extending their winning streak to 61 games.
Team USA went 2/9 on power plays and 0/1 on penalty shots while Russia went 2/7 on power plays and 1/1 on penalty shots.
