Biography
The 2020 & 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist is a two-time All-American and junior at Stanford University. At the age of 17, she became the youngest female team sport athlete in U.S. Olympic history to win Gold at a Summer Olympic Games. A physically imposing center, brings an ever-improving set of skills to two-meters.Â

What was the moment you knew you wanted to represent your country in the Olympic Games? Was it always in the sport of water polo?
When I was really young and found out my dad played water polo in the Olympics, I decided I wanted to be an Olympian just like him, even though I really didn’t understand what the Olympics were.
What is your hidden talent?
I like to write creatively.
What is your favorite karaoke song?
“Sweet Caroline”
If you could compete in another sport during the Olympic Games what would it be and why?
Ice hockey because I like the teamwork and the physicality.
What is one thing you have to have with you when you travel?
A neck pillow.
Biggest superstition if you have one?Â
I’m not superstitious.
What is your biggest fear?
Melissa Seidemann.
What causes are most dear to your heart?
Feminism!
What are two truths and a lie about you?
I’m allergic to nuts.
I prefer vanilla over chocolate.

Most of my teammates call me Ria.
What advice would you give your younger self and what would you remind your older self?Â
I would tell my younger self to not stress over the little things and to look around and enjoy the process a little bit more. I would remind my older self to remember the people and things that got me to where I am.Â
