Zagreb, Croatia - August 6 - The USA Cadet Men closed group play today with a 15-6 win over Australia at the World Aquatics U16 World Championships. Team captain Aden Shin was unstoppable with eight goals scored while goalkeeper Alistair Sterrett notched 10 saves in net. Team USA advances into the quarterfinals tomorrow with opponent and time TBD. The match will stream live on the World Aquatics YouTube channel with live statistics on Microplus Timing Services.

The United States came prepared and started strong in this contest. Hunter Coleman converted a penalty shot for the game's first goal then Andrew Schneider doubled the lead. Coleman scored again on a power play before Australia got one back midway through the opening quarter. Next, it was Coleman again who registered an early hat trick followed by a pair of goals from Shin for a 6-1 lead after one.

Coleman opened the second period with his fourth goal of the game for the Americans. The Australians responded on the ensuing possession but Shin netted his third to claim a first half hat trick and an 8-2 halftime advantage.

In the third quarter, Shin opened the scoring with his fourth goal before Australia got its third. Shin added another followed by Grayson Taylor on a power play strike. The Aussies scored with just under one minute remaining but Shin and Coleman each managed to score again before the quarter ended to set the score at 13-4 after three.

The final frame began with two goals from Shin to cement his big day. From there, Australia put two away but it was not nearly enough to catch the Americans who claimed the 15-6 victory.

Team USA went 5/5 on power plays and 1/4 on penalties while Australia went 1/5 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties.
