Medellin, Colombia - May 25 - The USA Men's Cadet National Team bounced back from a semifinal loss against Canada to win the bronze medal earlier today at the PanAm Aquatics Championship following a 21-9 win over Colombia.
Ronan Keane led the offense with four goals while
Andrew Schneider scored three times and earned title match MVP honors.
Alistair Sterrett recorded 15 saves in goal to anchor the defense. Team USA finishes play in Colombia at 6-1.
Colombia had the first word on offense scoring first, but they would never lead again.
Jack Davis scored next to launch a six goal first quarter, Keane would add two in that run for a 6-1 lead after the first.
Hunter Coleman scored the open the second and a tally from
Curren Francisco gave the United States a 9-2 lead with 4:05 to go in the half. Then the Colombia offense came to life as Marcus Gomez hit for four of his six goals on the day, cutting the deficit down to four at 10-6 with time winding down in the quarter. Adin Shin responded to give the United States an 11-6 lead at the break.
Gomez kept it going to open the third quarter but then the United States answered with five straight goals to take total control of the game. Keane scored twice in the run and Scheider closed the quarter with a goal for a 16-7 lead. Five more goals followed for Team USA in the fourth as they cruised to the 21-9 victory. The United States went 3/8 on power plays and 2/2 on penalties while Colombia went 2/5 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties.Â
