Volos, Greece - August 27 - The USA Men's Cadet National Team claimed ninth place at the FINA U16 World Championship, defeating Japan 12-4 earlier today.
Colt Bradley recorded a hat trick to lead Team USA.
Team USA got out to a fast start in the opening period of this game. Bradley, Boden Brinkema (2),
Maddox Arlett,
Nathaniel Banos, and
Ben Forer scored for the Americans to make the score 6-0 after the first. The two sides traded scores in the second period with Bradley and Arlett scoring opposite Japan's pair of goals to make the score 8-2 in favor of the United States at the half.
Team USA cruised in the third with four more goals in the quarter. Four consecutive goals from Forer, Banos, Bradley, and
Connor Ohl in the period preceeded a Japanese score with 0:05 remaining to make the score 12-3 going into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, the defenses showed up to close the game. Japan scored the lone goal with 1:02 remaining to make the final score 12-4 in favor of the United States.
Team USA scored thrice on power plays and went 2/2 on penalty shots while Japan did not score on power plays with no penalty shots attempted.
