July 17, 2016 Irvine, CA - July 17 - The US Open of Water Polo came to a close earlier today at the Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine with the women of Stanford and the men of Bruin winning gold. Stanford overwhelmed SOCAL 15-3 on the way to victory while Bruin outlasted Golden Bear 9-8 to pickup the win. Stanford's Jamie Neushul and Bruin's Max Irving received Most Valuable Player honors. In third place on the women's side it was NYAC A two goals better than USA Youth 8-6 avenging an earlier loss and the NYAC A men slipping past The Olympic Club in a shootout for bronze. As for the rest of the results on the women's side it was Bruin topping SOCAL Black 11-6 for fifth place and SB Premier over SB 805 6-5 in a battle of Santa Barbara to win seventh. Ninth place featured NYAC B over Michigan 10-7 and CHAWP doubled up Foothill Red 12-6 for 11th. The rest of the standings saw SET, Davis, Santa Clara, and Diablo rounding out the rankings.

In the men's competition SB Premier defeated Alumni 14-12 for fifth and Stanford stopped the USA Youth National Team 13-5 for seventh. NYAC B topped Newport in a shootout for ninth place and the 11th place match was halted and abandoned after multiple exclusions with CHAWP A leading San Diego Shores 9-4. In 13th place 680 defeated CHAWP B 15-9 and rounding things out was Foothill earning 15th place with a 19-13 win over Commerce.
