Mesa Coaches Jessica (left) and Samantha (right) are the S & R Sport Coaches of the Month for October 2014

The S & R Sport Coach(es) of the Month for October 2014 are Jessica and Samantha Biggs of Mesa Water Polo. For winning Jessica and Samantha will share a $50 gift certificate to S & R Sport. Here is their nomination from club owner Paul Smith.

As a club owner my challenge like other clubs is to find honest, hard working and dedicated people willing to put in the hard work it takes to be a successful coach in this sport. 

Now add to that being the only age group club in the entire state of Arizona, add in the temperatures we deal with here in the summer months and that challenge becomes even more difficult, not just finding a great coach but someone who can keep young athletes motivated under these conditions.

Jessica now 21, started playing water polo here in Mesa as a 14 year old along with Samantha who was 12 at the time. Both players participated in the 2008 Mountain Zone ODP and were selected to the Zone National Team.   

Coach Jessica Rudd who oversees our 12&U group and Splashball program with her sister Samantha Biggs have both embraced their roles with passion and hard work which shows in the major growth in the number of athletes in their groups! 

This past weekend they led a group of 17 players competing on the MWP A & B teams in their first ever tournament here in USA Water Polo's Rock-tober PCA 12 & Under Classic, although they were short on wins the kids had a blast and received the Sportsmanship award for the event!
