Huntington Beach, Calif. – August 5, 2009 – Scott Tanner joins USA Water Polo's Executive Team as Director of Sport Development. He will report to CEO Chris Ramsey and be responsible for overall growth of the sport. In addition to managing the staff of member programs, national events, data, and membership/club services, Scott will be responsible for prioritizing and implementing initiatives that a) target regional growth, b) enhance the water polo brand, and c) forge partnerships as outlined by the McKinsey Report on Marketing.
As a vital team member, Scott will work with other members of the Executive Team to leverage and rationalize USA Water Polo's assets and integrate his efforts with the Olympic Development Program, Marketing, and Finance. Scott fills a key role in the management of USA Water Polo which now includes Guy Baker, Olympic Development Manager, Christine Bird, Marketing Director, and Ulises Sam, Controller.

A 27-year veteran of the Walt Disney Company, Tanner most recently served as Director, Distribution Marketing at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, in which he was responsible for the marketing in all sales distribution channels including travel trade, meetings and conventions, and group sales for all on and offline efforts. In this role he also oversaw brand and tactical marketing for Downtown Disney, the Disneyland Resort Hotels and airline partnerships. He also provided the marketing support for the west coast Disney Sports group for the past two years of his career.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Tanner is Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of the California Travel Industry Association. He resides in Lake Forest, California with his wife Marcy, and two daughters Morgan and Bailey.
