Zagreb, Croatia - July 25 - The USA Cadet Women began play at the World Aquatics U16 World Championships today with a dominant 20-0 win over Peru. Juliana Horton and Gia Jacob scored three goals each while goalkeepers Margaret Weber and Sophia Becker combined for three saves. Team USA will play Canada next on Sunday, July 26 at 1:00am pt. The match will stream live on the World Aquatics YouTube channel with live stats available on Microplus Timing Services.

Team USA jumped in front early and never looked back in this contest. Amaya Dresevic started the scoring before Siena Doble and Jacob (2) pushed the lead to 4-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The United States kept rolling to begin the second with six goals in the period, a game-high for the squad. Horton (2) found the back of the net on the first two before Teodora Diaconu, Doble, and McKenna Mack connected on three more. Horton recorded her hat trick entirely in the second period when she scored on a counter attack to push the lead to double digits, 10-0, at the halftime break.

Natalie Arata, Blake Hofley, and Paige Segesman got on the scoresheet to start the third quarter. From there, Hofley added another and Louise Walls got in on the action late to set the score at 15-0 after three.

It was all window dressing in the fourth period for the Americans. Jacob, Mack, Walls, Diaconu, and Segesman all added to the tally to close things out with a 20-0 victory in Zagreb.

Team USA went 4/5 on power plays and 3/3 on penalties while Peru went 0/3 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties.
