Sydney, Australia - July 24 - The USA Women beat Australia today, 10-6, in the semifinals at the 2026 World Aquatics World Cup Final. Jewel Roemer and Paige Hauschild scored two goals each while goalkeeper Amanda Longan was named Player of the Match with 10 saves in net. Team USA moves on to the gold medal match against Spain on Saturday, July 25 at 11:15pm pt. This contest began with a low-scoring quarter as both teams got into the flow of the action. Team USA eventually got on the board when Roemer converted a penalty shot with just over one minute to go in the first. Rachel Fattal found the back of the net on a power play late to give the United States a 2-0 advantage after one.
Australia got the crowd into it with the first goal of the second period to halve the deficit before Ryann Neushul stepped up to put away a penalty shot. Ausmus widened the lead with a power play conversion but the hosts got two back on a pair of their own power play goals. Then, Roemer struck again with an extra player and the Aussies rang the register late in the period to set the score at 5-4 for the Americans at the half.
Jordan Raney and Hauschild scored back-to-back goals for Team USA to open the third quarter. Australia got one back before Jenna Flynn and Emma Lineback added to the lead. The hosts converted their only penalty of the game later in the quarter and the United States held a 9-6 lead headed to the final frame.
The fourth was a defensive masterclass from the Americans who held the Australians scoreless while Hauschild pushed Team USA to double digits midway through the period to punctuate the 10-6 victory in front of a raucous crowd in Sydney.
Team USA went 3/7 on power plays and 2/3 on penalties while Australia went 2/4 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties.
