Budapest, Hungary - January 17 - The U.S. Women's Senior National Team defeated Hungary 13-8 to wrap up a two-game friendly series in Budapest. Ryann Neushul scored five goals for Team USA while Jordan Raney added four scores. Lauren Steele and Amanda Longan combined for 13 saves in net.
Neushul and Raney (2) paced the United States in the first quarter with three extra player goals. The hosts scored two goals in the quarter to set the score at 3-2 for Team USA after one.
In the second period, the Americans continued to capitalize on power play opportunities. Neushul, Tara Prentice, and Jovana Sekulic all scored with an extra player to equal three goals from the host nation and the game went to halftime with a 6-5 United States lead.
After switching sides, Team USA pulled ahead in the third quarter. It was the top scorers in Neushul and Raney who both scored twice while Hungary managed just one goal for a 10-6 score headed to the final frame.
In the fourth period, the home team converted on two power plays but could not draw even as the Americans got goals from Rachel Fattal, Neushul, and Prentice to claim the 13-8 victory in Budapest.
