The Netherlands - January 10 - The U.S. Women's Senior National Team traveled to The Netherlands this week for a two-game series against the Dutch and came away with 12-6 and 16-9 victories in the pair of contests.
Rachel Fattal,
Ryann Neushul, and
Jewel Roemer each netted hat tricks as
Isabel Williams notched 13 saves for Team USA in the 12-6 win on Thursday. Paige Hauschild and
Ava Stryker led the way with five goals each while Christine Carpenter tallied nine saves in the 16-9 triumph on Friday.
In the opener, Team USA edged ahead early as Fattal, Neushul, and Roemer each scored in the first period for a 3-1 after one. Neushul and Roemer (2) supplied the only scoring of the second quarter as the Americans took control by halftime, leading 6-1 at the break.
Emily Ausmus and
Jenna Flynn chimed in with a pair of goals in the third period to hold an 8-5 edge before the final frame. Fattal (2), Neushul, and
Jordan Raney helped the United States finish strong to claim a 12-6 win.
The following day, Team USA got off to a slower start. Flynn and Hauschild each scored in the opening period which ended with a 5-2 deficit. The second quarter saw five American goals as Stryker scored three while Hauschild and
Tara Prentice each added one to swing the halftime score to 7-6 in favor of the United States. Team USA continued the scoring surge in the third period with Hauschild (2), Ausmus, Neushul,
Emma Lineback, and
Ella Woodhead finding the back of the net to extend the lead to 13-8. Stryker (2) and Hauschild scored thrice to wrap things up for the Americans with a 16-9 win.
