Jovana Sekulic converted on a power play for the game's first goal. Greece countered with back-to-back goals before Flynn knotted the score from five meters on a penalty attempt. The hosts found two more scores in the remaining time to close the quarter up 4-2. Greece began the second period with another pair of goals prior to
Tara Prentice converting on a player advantage. The pattern repeated as the Greeks scored twice and Flynn connected on a power play to leave the home team with an 8-4 edge at the break.
The second half is where this game got away from the United States. In the third quarter, Greece piled on seven goals opposite just one from Maryn Dempsey to extend the advantage to double digits at 15-5. Malia Allen and Lucy Haaland-Ford each scored once in the final frame against five goals from the hosts who cruised to victory at home, 20-7.
The United States went 4/8 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties while Greece went 3/5 on power plays and 5/5 on penalties.
