Ibague, Colombia - November 24 - The USA Women's National Team defeated Venezuela 23-1 to finish group play at the Pan American Championships. The win earned Team USA a spot at the 2025 World Aquatics World Championship and they'll meet Argentina on Monday for Pan American Championship gold at 11:10am et/8:10am pt. Team USA raced out to an 8-0 lead in the first taking complete control of the match. Pearson and Olympian
Jovana Sekulic scored twice in the opening frame to help bolster the lead. In the second period it was more of the same as the United States blanked Venezuela 5-0 to take a 13-0 lead at intermission. Rachel Gazzaniga powered home two goals in the second, part of a balanced effort from the United State as they went into the break.
In the third quarter Venezuela broke through with their first goal of the match but Team USA answered with four goals of their own. Charlotte Raisin, Sekulic,
Emily Ausmus and
Tara Prentice all found the back of the net. Pearson went back to work in the fourth period, adding two more goals as part of a six goal onslaught as Team USA cruised to the victory. Power plays didn't play a major role in this one with the United States going 0/2 and Venezuela going 0/5. Team USA went 1/2 on penalties while no penalties were attempted by Venezuela.
