Irvine, CA - August 28 - The USA Men's National Team will be well represented on the European club scene again this upcoming season. One year after 16 members of the Men's National Team capped up for some of the top clubs abroad, a variety of countries have welcomed 17 Team USA athletes for the 2023-24 season. Some athletes have been competing for their clubs for multiple years while others make the move to a new club this year. The international water polo landscape features a host of athletes with experience at the USA Water Polo and NCAA levels; here's a closer look at current members of the Team USA pipeline.
Twelve members of the men's roster from the 2023 World Aquatics World Championship are competing abroad, including
Ben Hallock who stays with Pro Recco in Italy for a fourth season after three straight Champions League titles and
Max Irving who moves within Italy - from Telimar to Brescia.
Quinn Woodhead takes Irving's spot at Telimar where he will join returning attacker
Johnny Hooper.
Media All-Star 7 team member at the 2023 World Aquatics World Championship
Hannes Daube makes the move from Marseille in France to Jug Dubrovnik in Croatia, where he will be joined by Thomas Gruwell at Jadran Split.
Marko Vavic departs Barcelona after one season for Savona.
Alex Bowen stays with Noisy-Le-Sec in France while
Drew Holland stays with Peristeri in Greece.
Dylan Woodhead remains with Vouliagmeni in Greece while
Luca Cupido moves from Barcelona to CC Ortigia. The lefty
Tyler Abramson rounds out the World Championship roster returnees as he will head to Germany to play for Spandau 04.
Other National Team athletes are also back in Europe. Tokyo Olympian Ben Stevenson returns to Europe with the Greek squad Panathinaikos. Kacper Langiewicz will head to Germany to cap up for Waspo Hannover after multiple seasons with Kaposvary in Hungary.
Jack Turner will stay in the cage for CN Mataro in Spain.
Mason McQuet, a newcomer to the Senior National Team training roster, will also travel to Spain to play for Mediterrani.
