What was the moment you knew you wanted to represent your country in the Olympic Games? Was it always in the sport of water polo?
I remember watching the 2012 London Olympics and being amazed at the speed of the game and how physical it was, and I knew I wanted to compete at that level. I wasn’t very good at water polo at the time, so I thought I would play basketball or another sport. It wasn't until my junior or senior year of high school that I realized I had the potential to go to the Olympics for water polo.
What is your hidden talent?
Ping pong.
What is your favorite karaoke song?
“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen
If you could compete in another sport during the Olympic Games what would it be and why?
Basketball. I’ve always loved the sport and both of my parents played it.
What is one thing you have to have with you when you travel?
A good book.
Biggest superstition if you have one?
Knocking on wood deters potential bad luck, without a doubt.
What is your biggest fear?
The really deep ocean.
What causes are most dear to your heart?
Climate Change, the homeless, and neglected pets.
What are two truths and a lie about you?
I'm an Eagle Scout
I love black licorice.
I once ate 32 ounces of steak at one dinner.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get it?
I don't have a nickname.
What song would be included on your life's soundtrack?
“For What It's Worth” by Buffalo Springfield.
What advice would you give your younger self and what would you remind your older self?
I would tell my younger self to keep working hard’ it will all pay off soon. And to my older self, I would say to make sure you're having fun, and if you aren’t, change something until you are.
