USA Men Secure Admission To Paris Olympics; Defeat Brazil 17-7 To Claim Pan Am Games Gold

Santiago, Chile - November 4 - The USA Men's National Team secured their spot at the Paris Olympic Games with a 17-7 victory over Brazil to win gold at the Pan American Games. It's the eighth straight Pan Am title for Team USA. Alex Bowen and Hannes Daube led the USA charge on offense scoring five goals each with Drew Holland going the distance in net recording seven saves. Ryder Dodd ended the competition as the leading scorer in Santiago connecting for 28 goals on 70% shooting.

It was a low-scoring match to start as Bowen opened the proceedings with a goal only to see Brazil tie it not long after. Team USA went in front 2-1, after one, thanks to a power play strike by Daube. In the second quarter the United States started to create some more separation. Bowen, Daube and Chase Dodd opened the period with goals for a 5-1 advantage. After Brazil clawed back to within three at 5-2, Team USA turned to Daube, Max Irving and Luca Cupido for an 8-2 edge. Brazil added one more before the break but Team USA carried an 8-3 lead into intermission.

Daube scored two straight to open the third, while Pedro Vergara countered with two of his own for Brazil. Bowen, Irving and Chase Dodd followed with goals. When the dust settled, Team USA had a 13-5 lead with action moving to the fourth. Bowen scored two in a row to open the scoring for Team USA and they cruised to the 10-goal victory.

The United States went 4/10 on power plays and 2/2 on penalties while Brazil went 3/6 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties.
