Biography
Ryder Dodd is a product of USA Water Polo’s Olympic Development Program/National Team Pipeline, consistently progressing through the ranks: USA Development National Team (2019, 2020), USA Cadet National Team (2023), USA Youth National Team (2022, 2023), and USA Junior National Team (2023) before debuting with the Senior National Team at the age of 16. During the summer of 2023, he competed on three National Teams (Youth, Junior, and Senior Teams). He made his Olympic debut in 2024 as the youngest member of Team USA.
INTERNATIONAL
Scored a team-high 15 goals at 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore...Named MVP at 2025 World Aquatics U20 Championships after 28 goals, six assists, nine steals, and two field blocks...Tallied 8 goals at 2024 Olympic Games in Paris...Notched 7 goals at 2024 World Aquatics World Championships in Doha...Top scorer (28) at 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago...Recorded 6 goals at 2023 World Aquatics World Championships in Fukuoka...Scored 6 goals at 2023 World Aquatics World Cup in Los Angeles...Named MVP at 2023 Pan American U17 Championships in Bauru…2022 FINA Youth World Championship in Belgrade…Awarded MVP honors at the 2022 Pan American U17 Championships in Indianapolis.
HIGH SCHOOL
Four Year Varsity Water Polo Player (Huntington Beach High School - 2020, 2022; JSerra Catholic High School - 2023, 2024)...Produced a historic campaign his senior year for the JSerra Lions, scoring a school-record 103 goals, to go along with 42 steals, 31 assists, and 15 blocks...Missed four weeks to train and compete in Europe with the Senior National Team...Named the CIF Open Division Player of the Year, Orange County Register's Player of the Year, and Trinity Male Athlete of the Year...He was a driving catalyst in JSerra's undefeated, record-setting season of 30-0 that resulted in Trinity League, CIF-SS Open Division, and CIF Division 1 Regional championships...As a dual athlete, he earned All-American honors in swimming for his performances during the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons...Did not swim his senior year due to training for the 2024 Olympics.
CLUB
Spent the majority of his age group years playing for Vanguard Aquatics under the guidance of head coach Sasa Branisavljevic...He won several Junior Olympic championships and was selected to the National Junior Olympic First Team various times...Earned MVP honors for his performance in 2018 and 2021...Later joined his high school club team to be coached by Olympian Brett Ormsby at Mission Aquatics.
