Szeged, Hungary - June 21 - The USA Men's National Team opened play at the FINA World Championship with a 17-13 loss to Serbia earlier today in Hungary.
Alex Bowen scored four goals while
Chase Dodd,
Ben Hallock, and
Ben Stevenson added two goals each.

Team USA ended the first quarter in a 5-5 tie with the Serbians. Stevenson started the period with a goal for the Americans, who then got two straight from Bowen followed by
Max Irving and
Hannes Daube finishing the quarter with a pair of goals. In the second quarter, the United States got goals from Dodd and Hallock to trail by one at halftime, 8-7. Stevenson, Bowen, and
Jake Ehrhardt all scored in the third quarter to stay even with Serbia and head to the fourth down 11-10. The one goal deficit would be as close as Team USA came the rest of the way as Serbia opened the final frame with a quick pair of goals. Dodd, Hallock, and Bowen would each add another goal in the fourth en route to the 17-13 defeat.
The United States went 5/12 on power plays with no penalty shots attempted while Serbia went 4/9 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties.
