Irvine, CA – June 17 – USA Water Polo Men's Senior National Team Head Coach
Dejan Udovicic has announced the roster for the upcoming FINA World Championships starting Tuesday in Hungary. Udovicic selected 13 athletes and two alternates for the competition that will begin in Szeged, Hungary before later rounds advance to Budapest. Team USA has never won a medal in World Championship play, taking ninth place at the most recent event in 2019.
Team USA's roster will feature eight returning athletes from the Tokyo Olympic Games roster and nine athletes with World Championship experience. Two-time Olympians
Alex Bowen and
Ben Hallock lead fellow World Championship returners in
Hannes Daube,
Matt Farmer,
Drew Holland,
Max Irving,
Marko Vavic and
Dylan Woodhead.
Ben Stevenson,
Chase Dodd,
Jake Ehrhardt, Tommy Gruwell and
Adrian Weinberg will make their World Championship debut. 2016 Olympian
Thomas Dunstan joins
Tyler Abramson as alternates.
The United States will open play on July 21 against Serbia at 10:30am pt. They'll also meet Kazakhstan and Australia to close out Group D action. Live streaming of all the games will be available on the FINA YouTube page by
