Zeist, Netherlands - October 28 - The USA Women's National Team returned to the pool today in preparation for next week's FINA World League Super Final. Behind three goals from
Ryann Neushul and 11 combined saves from
Ashleigh Johnson and
Amanda Longan, Team USA picked up a 12-11 win over the Netherlands. Team USA now heads to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain for Super Final play, the action begins on November 2 against the Netherlands. Team USA jumped out to an early lead opening up a 5-1 edge after the first and led 7-2 in the second quarter. The United States would hold a 7-4 lead at intermission. The Netherlands delivered four goals in the third quarter, matching four from Team USA to make it 11-8 going to the fourth. The Netherlands made a strong push in the fourth quarter drawing to within one at 12-11 with 3:37 left in the match. The home team would get no closer as the United States hung on for the one goal win.
The United States went 6/13 on power plays and 1/2 on penalties while the Netherlands went 6/14 on power plays and 2/2 on penalties.Â
