Irvine, CA - March 12 - Week 1 of the 2019 National League wrapped up at Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine, CA this past Sunday with USA University, USA Collegiate and Olympic Club all undefeated. Newcomers: Pacific Coast Riptide and Commerce Aquatics made their National League debuts this weekend. Pacific Coast Riptide went 0-3-1, but were competitive in all their games as they scored with 31 seconds left to earn an 11-11 tie against a tough Alumni team on Sunday. Commerce also made their debut and despite losing all four games they hung tough with Alumni and Long Beach Shore through three quarters of play.
 
Championship Horsepower: The defending champions Olympic Club went on an offensive tear during week one, scoring 83 goals through 3 games while only allowing 22. Leading the way for Olympic Club is the defending National League top scorer Paul Reynolds with 16 goals.
 
Making the grade: USA University won all four of their games on the opening weekend including two one goal victories over Los Angeles Athletic Club and Alumni. As a result, they find themselves leading the standings at the end of week 1.
 
Nail-biters: Week 1 was a thriller as six games were decided by one goal and one game finished tied at the end of regulation. Three of those games involved the Los Angeles Athletic Club who pulled off two one goal victories over New York Athletic Club and Davis. USA Collegiate also found themselves on the right side of two close games as they took down New York Athletic Club and USA Academy.
 
New York Blues: Two-time National League Champions New York Athletic Club finds themselves in an unfamiliar place near the bottom of the standings after dropping two of their first three games on the first weekend.
