Chris Oeding was named an assistant coach of the Women’s Senior National Team in May 2013. A two-time Olympian and captain of the U.S. Olympic Men’s Water Polo Team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, Chris is also head coach of the men’s and women’s water polo teams at Long Beach (CA) City College, as well as the swimming and diving teams at the school.

At LBCC, he’s piled up more than 300 victories and seven state championships with both the men’s and women’s teams.

Chris was also the men’s water polo head coach at Orange Coast (CA) College for five seasons and coached women’s water polo and both swim teams there as well. While at OCC he was twice named Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year (1998, 1999) and led his team to conference titles in 1997 and 1999.

His standout credentials also include his playing career. Chris was a three-time All-American while at Corona Del Mar (CA) High School and in 1988 was named CIF Player of the Year. He went on to play at Cal (Berkeley) where he was a three-time All-American and helped lead the Golden Bears to three straight NCAA championships. In 1992, Chris was named NCAA Co-Player of the Year. He recently was selected for the Cal Golden Bears Hall of Fame.

From 1993 to 2000, Chris was a member of the U.S. National Water Polo Team and was named captain in 1997. He competed in two Olympics and helped the U.S. finish seventh at the 1996 Atlanta Games and sixth at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Chris received his bachelor’s degree from Cal in 1994 and earned his master’s from Azusa Pacific.
