Splashball On The Rise In Florida

Orlando Area Embraces Water Polo For Youngsters

Nick Gaffey joined USA Water Polo in May 2011 as the Southeast Zone's Sport Growth Specialist. In this role, Nick works to promote Splashball and Water Polo throughout the Southeast. He works closely with the Zone Board, coaches, officials, and athletes in order to help bring "polo to every pool" in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama. Gaffey is USA Water Polo's man on the ground in the zone and helps keep solid connection between the Southeast zone and national office.

Nick currently resides in his native state of Florida. He earned his degree in Management from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, where he was a member of the swim team as well as the goalkeeper on the Terrier's Water Polo team. After graduation, Gaffey returned home and began coaching at Lake Brantley High School, where he won 3 state championships and was named 1st team All- American. Prior to joining USA Water Polo Gaffey was an intern at Merrill Lynch subsequently working in finance at The Bank of New York Mellon. While at BNY Mellon Nick was also the Head Coach at Lake Brantley High school while running and coaching the Patriot Aquatics Water Polo Club in Central Florida. Outside of work Gaffey enjoys surfing, playing Polo, and cheering for the Miami Dolphins and Orlando Magic.
