USA Women Defeat The Netherlands 12-10 At World Cup Qualifier

Ryann Neushul scored four goals to lead Team USA against the Netherlands

Rotterdam, Netherlands - May 4 - The USA Women were victorious at the 2026 World Aquatics World Cup Division 1 Tournament today with a 12-10 win over the Netherlands. Ryann Neushul scored four goals for the United States as goalkeeper Amanda Longan recorded six saves in net. Team USA is back in the water tomorrow when they play Spain at 11:15am pt. Live streaming is available on the World Aquatics website and live statistics are available on Microplus Timing Services.

Both sides began with good defensive possessions and big field blocks each way. Midway through the first quarter, Neushul opened the scoring on a power play for the United States. The hosts would respond with a pair of goals late to take a 2-1 lead after one.

One minute into the second period, Rachel Gazzaniga knotted the score before Jewel Roemer's counter attack goal gave Team USA the lead. From there, Neushul put home her second score and forced a Dutch goalkeeper change. Two more goals followed from each side before halftime with Jenna Flynn and Jordan Raney scoring for the Americans who held a 6-4 edge at the break.

In the second half, the United States struck first from Emily Ausmus. About midway through the quarter, the Netherlands scored four of the next five scores with only Neushul recording an American goal. With the host nation on a run, Team USA turned to Rachel Fattal on the extra player advantage and she converted for a 9-8 lead at the end of three.

The Netherlands leveled the score on its first possession of the fourth period but Team USA had all the answers. First it was Flynn from six meters before she added another on a power play opportunity. With 2:30 remaining, Neushul pushed the lead to three and the home team had to call for a timeout. The last goal of the match came from the Netherlands as time expired but it was only enough to change the final score, 12-10 for the United States.

Team USA went 5/6 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties while the Netherlands went 4/9 on power plays with no penalties attempted.
