Team USA attacker Ryder Dodd was named Player of the Match with five goals scored in the win over Serbia

Alexandroupoli, Greece - April 9 - The USA Men beat Serbia today, 14-12, to begin second round action at the 2026 World Aquatics World Cup Division 1 Tournament. Ryder Dodd was named Player of the Match with five goals scored for the United States as goalkeeper Adrian Weinberg tallied eleven saves. Team USA faces Croatia again Saturday morning at 6:30am et/3:30am pt with live streaming on World Aquatics and live statistics on Microplus Timing Services.

The game began with a Serbian goal but Chase Dodd would answer for the Americans early. Serbia picked up another pair of scores to hold a 3-1 edge after one quarter.

Team USA flipped the game in the second period. After Serbia scored to go ahead by three, the United States sent a flurry of goals into the back of the net. Hannes Daube, Dominic Brown, Ryder Dodd, Nicolas Saveljic, and Bode Brinkema spread the wealth with five goals by five players to take a 6-4 halftime lead.

From there, each team matched the other in the second half. Chase Dodd, Daube, Marko Vavic, and Ryder Dodd netted four scores for the United States opposite the same tally for Serbia to set the score at 10-8 after three quarters of play.

In the final frame, Ryder Dodd put home the first two goals to extend the American lead to four before a Serbian response. Saveljic increased the advantage back to four but Serbia had an answer again. With three minutes left, Ryder Dodd scored again for his fifth goal to put the game out of reach. Two more Serbian scores were too little, too late and Team USA emerged with its first win in Greece, 14-12.

Team USA went 3/6 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties while Serbia went 8/16 on power plays and 2/3 on penalties.
