Singapore - July 20 - The USA Men's National Team suffered their first loss in Singapore, dropping a 14-9 quarterfinal match to Serbia. Serbia struck first in this battle, opening the scoring with a tally in the first two minutes. Team USA had an immediate answer on a score from Chase Dodd to level the match at 1-1 with 5:23 to play in the quarter. Serbia scored the next two goals to close out the quarter in front 3-1. Serbia went in front 4-1 early in the second and was on the brink of a 5-1 lead but they failed to convert on a penalty shot try leaving the United States within shouting distance. Team USA took advantage and mounted a comeback. Saveljic scored on a power play and Daube followed with a goal less than a minute later to make it a one-goal game at 4-3 with 5:34 to go in the first half. Unfortunately for Team USA, that is as close as this match would get. Serbia scored two straight to end the first half and led 6-3 at intermission.

The Serbian squad kept the pressure on to start the third quarter scoring the first three goals of the period to build a 9-3 lead with 3:06 to play. Team USA tried to hang in, delivering two of the next three goals, courtesy of Saveljic and Jake Ehrhardt for a 10-5 deficit after three periods. Daube had his second goal of the night early in the fourth, cutting the deficit to four goals, but Serbia always had an answer. Team USA would cut the deficit to four twice more in the quarter but Serbia responded with a goal on their way to the five goal victory.

Team USA went 4/12 on power plays with no penalties attempted while Serbia went 5/9 on power plays and 3/4 on penalties.
