National League Week 3 Concludes In Orange County

Mission's Ryder Dodd is third in the league for +/- leaders with a +39.2 mark after Week 3.
Irvine, CA - March 11 - The third week of the 2025 USA Water Polo Men's National League concluded on Sunday in Orange County. Following three weeks of action, Mission is unbeaten atop the North Conference with 36 points and New York Athletic Club remains ahead in the South Conference with 30 points. For complete Week 3 results, click here. Los Angeles Athletic Club Best of the Rest: Los Angeles Athletic Club is the best club in the National League standings outside of the conference leaders with 29 points after Week 3. In its first game, LAAC defeated Riptide (16-10) behind four goals each from Max Casabella and Andras Toth while goalkeeper Logan Estes racked up 12 saves. Next, LAAC and Anteater met in the Game of the Week on Saturday night at Woollett Aquatics Center. Los Angeles distanced itself in the second half to pull away with a 14-9 win. Casabella recorded six goals and Estes had nine saves and four steals to lead the charge again for LAAC. Finally, LAAC faced an upstart USA Pipeline squad in the final game of the week. A back-and-forth affair ended in heartbreak for Los Angeles after a 10-10 tie gave way to a penalty shootout that USA Pipeline would survive, 5-4. Bryce Hoerman was a bright spot offensively as he scored five goals while Toth added three for LAAC.

Channel Cats Claw Way to Victory: Channel Cats had a productive Week 3 in the National League, garnering a 3-0 record across two days. On Friday night, Channel Cats kicked off the week's slate of games with a win over Anteater (18-8). It was an extremely balanced scoring effort for the Cats as Alika Naone, Evan Cain, Dennis Blayashov, Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt, Milo Joseph, and Kyle Thomas all scored twice. Saturday brought a pair of closer contests but Channel Cats emerged victorious against USA Pipeline (15-11) and Riverside (13-11). Turnbow-Lindenstadt was the high scorer versus USA Pipeline with five goals while Joseph added three of his own. Naone and Turnbow-Lindenstadt added hat tricks in the finale against Riverside but goalkeeper Brendon Gyapjas was the man of the match with 14 saves, five steals, and two assists.

Mission Beats New York Athletic Club: Sunday morning saw a titanic inter-conference clash between the two best teams in the league. After three quarters of play, Mission and New York Athletic Club were knotted up at 9-9. Mission stole the show in the final frame as Ben Larsen connected on the first two scores to push in front by two. NYAC had a response from Barbabas Eppel before Ben Liechty, Larsen, and Marcell Szecsi put the game away late. Liechty scored four for Mission who also got three goals from Larsen and Ryder Dodd. NYAC was led by Di Martire in this match as Massimo and Gianpiero both recorded hat tricks.

Save City: Channel Cats' goalkeeper Brendon Gyapjas notched a league-high 17 saves against Riverside this week. Elsewhere, New York Athletic Club's Christopher Whitelegge racked up 13 saves versus Trojan and USA Pipeline's Charlie Baxter tallied 11 saves against Channel Islands.

League Leaders: Channel Cats' Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt is the National League's top scorer with 30 goals through Week 3. Channel Cats' goalkeeper Brendon Gyapjas leads the league with 74 saves after a big week in the cage while USA Pipeline's Landon Akerstrom is tied with Turnbow-Lindenstadt atop the sprint winner leaderboard with 8.

6-8 Sports +/- Leaders: Riverside's Toring Stanley leads the league at +48.9 through three weeks. Los Angeles Athletic Club's Andras Toth is in second at +43.3 and Mission's Ryder Dodd comes in at number three with a +39.2 mark.
