Team USA got on the board first in this one as Jake Ehrhardt and Nicolas Saveljic connected on a pair of early goals. Romania would get one back midway through the quarter to set the score at 2-1 after one. In the second period, Ohl put home his first goal of the contest before the hosts knotted the score with back-to-back goals.
Marko Vavic would have the last word of the half to retake the lead 4-3 at the break.
In the second half, Romania leveled early on before Ehrhardt and
Chase Dodd pushed the Americans back in front. The home team scored one more in the third to send this match to the final frame with the score set at 6-5 for Team USA. After winning the opening sprint, Ohl scored again to begin the fourth quarter and then
Max Irving extended the lead to three for the first time. Down the stretch, two goals from Romania were offset by two more goals from Ohl and Irving who made sure the United States left with a 10-7 victory.
The United States went 2/5 on power plays and 0/1 on penalties while Romania went 2/6 on power plays and 1/1 on penalties.
