Indianapolis, IN - July 15 - The fifth day of the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships is underway at the Indiana University Natatorium! Follow along for updates throughout the day.

Final: USA 28, Puerto Rico 0.
The U.S. Men's Youth National Team brought their best defense at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships, defeating Puerto Rico 28-0.
John Burghardt led the way for the United States with five goals whileÂ
Ben Larsen added four in the win.

The third quarter brought more of the same as Liechty, Castillo, Schneider (2), Mnatsakanian, Larsen, Burghardt, and Tsotadze netted goals for Team USA to bring the score to 24-0 headed into the fourth quarter. The final frame saw Dodd, Larsen (2), and Pantaleon put the finishing touches on the 28-0 victory.
Final: USA 13, Brazil 3.
The U.S. Women's Youth National Team was in full control at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships, defeating Brazil 13-3. Rebecca Melanson led Team USA with four goals scored and Ava Stryker added three of her own in the win.
Team USA put together a great defensive first half in which Brazil did not score. In the first quarter, Genoa Rossi and Maggie Hawkins scored for the United States followed by Rebecca Melanson and Ava Stryker in the second period to give the Americans a 4-0 lead at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, Team USA scored three times behind Rachel Gazzaniga (2) and Stryker while Brazil got on the board via goals from Jennifer Cavalcante, Luana Bonetti, and Stefany Azevedo to make the score 7-3 headed to the fourth. In the final frame, the United States netted six goals from Stryker, Melanson (3), Allison Cohen, and Amber Nowaczek while holding Brazil scoreless to claim the 13-3 final.
Other Men's Games
Final: Brazil 18, Argentina 7
Brazil led all game against Argentina at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships, ultimately taking it by a score of 18-7. Frederico Carsalade and Diego Depaula both netted four goals for Brazil in the win.
Brazil got out to an early lead after three first quarter goals from Depaula and Carsalade (2). Argentina netted two in the period from Martino Rizzo and Juan Fernandez to make the score 3-2 for Brazil after one. Carsalade, Oliver Sudar, Vitor Razera, and Depaula all scored for Brazil in the second quarter as the defense held Argentina scoreless to take a 7-2 lead into halftime.
The Brazilians opened up their lead in the third quarter by pouring in eight goals while Argentina netted three. Depaula (3), Sudar, Carsalade, Joao Pedro Domeneghetti, Luiz Zerbielli, and Andre De Frietas found the back of the net for Brazil as Rizzo (2) and Nicolas Frassinelli did the same for Argentina to make the score 15-5 in favor of Brazil. In the final frame, Brazil added three scores from Depaula, Sudar, and Fabiano Gomes while Argentina got two from Fernandez and Francisco Rueda to give Brazil the 18-7 victory.
4th Place Final: Argentina 17, Puerto Rico 8.
Argentina defeated Puerto Rico at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships by a score of 17-8. Valentin Medici, Santino Gomez, Branco Levak, and Martino Rizzo all recorded a hat trick for Argentina as they advance to the Bronze Medal match against Canada tomorrow at 11am et.
Argentina opened the game behind seven goals from Martino Rizzo (2), Levak (2), Francisco Rueda, Medici, and Juan Fernandez. Puerto Rico put home three in the period by Issac Catala, Joaquin Del Rio, and Eugenio Maldonado to make the score 7-3 in favor of Argentina after one. In the second quarter, Argentina netted four goals from Nicolas Frassinelli, Gomez (2), and Levak while Puerto Rico added one from Maldonado, making the halftime score 11-4 for Argentina.
In the third period, Argentina doubled up Puerto Rico with four goals by Nicolas Bonifassi, Medici (2), and Rizzo. Puerto Rico scored twice via Kai De Orbeta and Maldonado to send the game into the final frame with Argentina leading 15-6. The final frame saw Argentina score two from Gomez and Frassinelli while Puerto Rico got two from De Orbeta to make the final score 17-8 for Argentina.
Other Women's Games
Final: Canada 20, Chile 3.
Canada came out with force to take an early lead. In the first quarter, Canada got goals from Lashyn Ahmad (2), Katherine Featherstone (3), and Gabrielle Patenaude while holding Chile without a score to lead 6-0. Alexandra Andrist, Ashley O'Neill, Madeleine Scarth, Payton Donald (2), Featherstone, and Patenaude netted goals for Canada in the second period while Chile went scoreless again to make the halftime score 13-0.
In the third quarter, Patenaude scored for Canada before Chile broke through via a goal from Barbara Gutierrez. Emilia Schorr and Mikayla Hack scored back-to-back times for Canada followed by Valentina Diaz putting another on the board for Chile, making the score 16-2 headed to the fourth. Canada put the game to rest with four goals in the final frame while Chile added one for the 20-3 final.
