Indianapolis, IN - July 14 - The fourth day of the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships is upon us! Follow along for updates throughout the day.
Team USA
Final: USA 14, Brazil 10.
The U.S. Men's Youth National Team kept it going after their bye at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships with a 14-10 victory over Brazil.
Ryder Dodd scored four times to lead Team USA whileÂ
Peter Castillo put three in the back of the net in the win.
Brazil opened the game with good play at both ends. Paulo Oliveira, Artur Diaz, Fabiano Gomes, and Eduardo DePaula scored in the opening quarter for the Brazilians while Castillo and Dodd both converted penalty shots for Team USA to make the score 4-2 in favor of Brazil after one. The second was filled with offense from both sides as ten goals were scored in the period. Americans

Gage Verdegaal found the back of the net while Oliveira, Oliver Sudar, Frederico Carsalade, Joao Vitor Jaime, and Gomes all put one home for Brazil as they led at halftime, 9-7.
In the third quarter, Dodd began the scoring with a penalty shot followed byÂ
Evan Ausmus finishing off an offensive possession with great ball movement with a man-up goal.
Carter Loth also scored for the United States in the period while Sudar converted on a man-up advantage for Brazil, sending this game into the fourth all tied, 10-10. Team USA turned up the defensive intensity in the final frame as they held Brazil without a goal in the quarter.Â

Final: USA 14, Canada 6.
The U.S. Women's Youth National Team continued their winning ways after their bye at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships with a 14-6 victory over Canada. Ava Knepper led Team USA with five goals and Ava Stryker added four in the win.
Team USA got off to a good start against Canada in the opening period. Ella Woodhead converted on a player advantage while Stryker had a pair of goals in the quarter. The defense held Canada scoreless and the United States was up 3-0 after one. Canada got on the board in the second via goals from Ashley O'Neill, Serena Browne, and Lashyn Ahmad while Knepper and Stryker both scored for Team USA as they led 5-3 at halftime.
The Americans found offensive success in the third quarter, scoring six times in the period. Knepper (2), Rachel Gazzaniga, Stryker, Margaret Johnson, and Julia Bonaguidi all found the back of the cage as Browne scored the lone goal for Canada, sending the game into the fourth quarter with Team USA up 11-4. In the final frame, the United States put three goals on the board from Johnson and Knepper (2) while Canada managed two goals from Browne and Team USA clinched the 14-6 victory.

Final: Canada 18, Puerto Rico 10.
Canada defeated Puerto Rico by a score of 18-10 on Day 4 of the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships. Nathanial Eidsness led Canada with six goals while Alexander James netted five goals in the win.
Puerto Rico got on the scoreboard first from Eugenio Maldonado, immediately answered by Eidsness of Canada. Puerto Rico then got back-to-back goals from Jorge Mendez before Guiliano Di Nardo put one home to give Canada a 3-2 lead after one. Mendez opened the second with another goal for Puerto Rico, who got another score from Issac Catala Tolentino in the period. Canada put up three from Elias Crichlow, Eidsness, and James to tie the score at 5-5 at halftime.
Canada began the third quarter with six straight goals. Giancarlo Marquez, James, Cameron Gillingham, Crichlow (2), and Eidsness found the back of the net prior to Puerto Rico's first goal in the period, which came from Mendez with two minutes to play. Eidsness and Maldonado traded goals from Canada and Puerto Rico to close the quarter with a 12-7 Canadian lead. Joaquin Del Rio came out in the fourth quarter with two straight goals for Puerto Rico, but then Canada put the game out of reach. Eidsness (2), James (3), and Marquez poured in goals while Maldonado added one more for Puerto Rico, solidifying the 18-10 victory for Canada.
Other Women's Games
Final: Brazil 18, Argentina 10.
Brazil defeated Argentina on Day 4 of the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships, 18-10. Luana Bonetti scored a team-high six goals for Brazil and Leticia Silva added five of her own in the win.
Five different athletes scored in the opening period of this game. Silva, Bonetti, and Lauryen Rodrigues netted goals for Brazil while Lucía Ruíz and Isabella Mastronardi did the same for Argentina as the score was 3-2 in favor of Brazil after one quarter. Brazil had a big second quarter with seven goals scored. Rebecca Moreira, Silva (2), Bonetti (2), Jennifer Cavalcante, and Stefany Azevedo were the scorers for Brazil while Maylen Sampedro and Ruíz scored two for Argentina in the period to send the game to halftime with a 10-4 advantage for Brazil.
The two sides went back and forth in the third quarter, with Brazil scoring four times to Argentina's three. Silva, Bonetti, Cavalcante, and Moreira found the back of the net for the Brazilians as Agustina Fogante, and Anahí Bacigalupo (2) did the same for the Argentinians, sending the game into the final frame with Brazil leading 14-7. Brazil held serve in the final frame, outscoring Argentina by one goal to claim the 18-10 victory.
