Indianapolis, IN - July 13 - The third day of the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships is here! Follow along for updates throughout the day.

Men's Games
Final: Canada 12, Argentina 10

Canada picked up their first victory at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships, defeating Argentina 12-10. Giancarlo Marquez led the way for Canada with five goals and Raphael Fournier recorded 15 saves in net during the win.

The Canadian men got the first two goals of the day on the board in the opening two minutes. Marquez converted a penalty shot and Cameron Gillingham added a natural goal to give Canada the early lead. Santino Floreal Gomez De La Canal had an answer for the Argentinian men before Cameron Hexter scored for Canada, both on man-up advantages. Francisco Miguel Rueda Nessi ended the period with a penalty shot goal for Argentina, giving Canada a 3-2 lead after one. In the second quarter, Canada netted four goals from Alexander James, Marquez (2), and Elias Crichlow. Argentina had a pair of goals from Martino Rizzo and Gomez De La Canal to make the halftime score 7-4 in favor of Canada.

Rizzo opened the third quarter with back-to-back goals for Argentina to draw within one, then Nathanial Eidsness converted a man-up advantage for Canada. Rizzo scored again for the Argentinians before Marquez buried a penalty shot for the Canadians. Branco Levak Cybulski and Nicolas Frassinelli both scored late in the period to tie the score at 9-9 headed to the fourth. In the final frame, Marquez found the back of the net again on a penalty shot for Canada and then Frassinelli tied the score once again for Argentina. Crichlow scored for Canada to put them up by one with just over two minutes to play. That's where the score stayed until the closing seconds when Gillingham put another one away to clinch the 12-10 victory for Canada.

Final: Brazil 29, Puerto Rico 5.

Brazil moved to 2-0 at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships, defeating Puerto Rico 29-5. Luiz Gustavo Zerbielli had a team-high five goals for Brazil while Frederico Carsalade and Eduardo De Paula each added four in the win.

The Brazilian men jumped out to a fast start against Puerto Rico. Brazil poured in nine first quarter goals from Carsalade (2), Paulo Ricardo Oliveira, Vitor Razera, De Paula, Oliver Sudar (2), Joao Pedro Domeneghetti, and Zerbielli. Eugenio Maldonado Rivera managed a pair of goals for Puerto Rico as Brazil led 9-2 after one. In the second quarter, Brazil widened their lead with more high powered offense and stellar defense. Razera (2), Zerbielli (3), Carsalade, and Domeneghetti found the back of the cage while Jorge Mendez Cuellar converted on a man-up advantage for Puerto Rico as Brazil held a halftime lead, 16-3.

The third quarter featured seven goals, five from the Brazilians. Artur Diaz (2), Fabiano Augusto Gomes (2), and Carsalade netted goals for Brazil while Kai De Orbeta Ramirez and Issac Catala Tolentino scored for Puerto Rico. Brazil headed to the fourth quarter up 21-5, where they would not let their foot off the gas. Eight goals to zero in the final frame led to a 29-5 victory for Brazil.

Women's Games
Final: Argentina 13, Chile 5.

Argentina bested Chile at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships, 13-5. Isabella Mastronardi Belpoliti netted five goals for Argentina while Ana Jazmín Agnesina and Agostina Cataldo each scored two goals in the win.

The Argentinian women came to play early in this one, as they built a five goal lead behind balanced scoring. Agustina Adriana Fogante, Agnesina, Mastronardi Belpoliti, María Konowal, and Maylen Sampedro Tarela found the back of the net before Chile got on the scoreboard via Barbara Gutierrez to make the score 5-1 after the first quarter. Chile started the second quarter with a pair of goals from Constanza Beltran and Matie Dufflocq before Mastronardi Belpoliti and Agnesina countered with two power play goals for Argentina. Chile and Argentina would trade goals to end the half with Argentina up 8-4.

The third period saw Argentina record three goals while holding Chile without one. Cataldo and Mastronardi Belpoliti (2) scored to give Argentina an 11-4 advantage headed to the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Cataldo and Mastronardi Belpoliti scored for Argentina while Valentina Muñoz added one more for Chile in the final minute as Argentina secured the victory, 13-5.

Final: Canada 15, Brazil 7.

Canada beat Brazil at the 2022 Pan American Junior Water Polo Championships, 15-7. Serena Browne recorded five goals scored and Alexandra Hlohovsky Andrist added four for Canada in the win.

The Canadian women controlled the first quarter in this game. Buoyed by goals from Raha Peiravani, Browne (2), and Alicia Petkov and a great defensive effort, Canada held a 4-0 lead after one. The Brazilian women responded to begin the second quarter. Rebecca Helena Moreira and Luana Gabrielle Bonetti (2) scored the first three goals in the period to cut Canada's lead to one. From there, Canada got goals from Lashyn Ahmad, Hlohovsky Andrist, and Mikayla Hack while Moreira netted one goal for Brazil to make the halftime score 7-4 in favor of Canada.

Canada began the third quarter with three straight goals from Browne (2) and Hlohovsky Andrist to push their lead to six. Miria Silva would put one home for Brazil late in the quarter to send this one to the fourth quarter with a 10-5 score in favor of Canada. In the final frame, Canada put the game to bed behind five goals from Browne, Hlohovsky Andrist (2), Ahmad, and Katherine Featherstone. Brazil got goals from Stefany Vitoria Azevedo and Bonetti to make the final score 15-7 in favor of Canada.
