USA Men Downed By Serbia 14-9 To Close Out Group Play At FINA Junior World Championship

Prague, Czech Republic - August 31 - The USA Men's Junior National Team closed out group play at the FINA Junior World Championship at 2-2 following a 14-9 loss to Serbia. Nico Tierney led the squad in scoring with three goals with Travis Reynolds adding two scores. Adrian Weinberg went the distance in net stopping 11 shots. Team USA has tomorrow off and then returns to play on Thursday against an opponent to be determined. Serbia took a lead in the first quarter and never looked back building a 4-1 advantage going to the second quarter. Serbia outscored Team USA 3-2 in the second to go ahead 7-3 at halftime. It was the same margin in the third quarter as Serbia led 10-5 going to the fourth. Team USA's offense looked to battle back in the fourth with four goals of their own but that was met by four goals for Serbia to halt any comeback hopes. Team USA now finishes at 2-2 in Group B action with wins over Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
