UCLA Moves To Second Spot In Varsity Top 20

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The University of Southern California remains the No. 1 team in the country by topping the Women's National Top 20 to highlight the 2014 Women's Varsity Top 20, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top 10 and CWPA Division III Top Five Week 6/February 26 Polls released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).

The top teams in all four polls remain unchanged from last week's edition as USC (National Top 20),Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (Division III Top 10), Princeton University (CWPA Top 10) andConnecticut College (CWPA Division III Top Five) hold on at No. 1.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Big West Conference, Golden Coast Conference, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2014 Varsity Top 20 Poll (Week 6)

The University of Southern California remains the top-ranked team in the country as the Women of Troy remain a unanimous No. 1 pick in topping the 2014 Women's Varsity National Top 20 Week 6/February 26 Poll.

Behind USC, significant changes occurred in the Top 20 as only two other programs retained their positions from the Week 5/February 19 voting.

The first change comes at No. 2 as the University of California-Los Angeles (95 points) dislodges Stanford University (90 points) for the runner-up position. Stanford slips one place to No. 3, while the University of California (85 points) rermains a lock at No. 4.

Arizona State University (79 points) inches up to No. 5, with the University of California-Irvine (76 points) sliding back to No. 6.  Princeton University (64 points) and California State University-Northridge (64 points) rise to tie at No. 7, with Loyola Marymount University (60 points) and San Jose State University (53 points) completing the Top 10.

Princeton's ranking, which equals its previous high of seventh established in  the January 29 poll,  is the highest ranked East Coast squad since the University of Michigan ranked at No. 6 from April 6 to April 27 during the 2011 season.

The University of California-San Diego (52 points) moves up to No. 11, while Long Beach State University (46 points) remains at No. 12 for another week. No. 13-to-15 belongs to the University of Hawaii (44 points), Indiana University (36 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (32 points), while the University of California-Davis (21 points), San Diego State University (20 points),Santa Clara University (19 points) and Hartwick College (8 points) rate at No. 16-to-19.

California Baptist University (3 points) and Michigan (3 points) complete the poll by tying for the No. 20 berth. The University of the Pacific (2 points) and Wagner College (1 point) also received votes.

2014 Division III Top 10 Poll (Week 6)

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (97 points) holds onto the top position in the Women's Varsity Division III Top 10 Week 6/February 26 Poll.

The Top Five in the poll experience significant changes from the Week 5/February 19 balloting as Whittier College (94 points) climbs one places to No. 2 after ranking at No. 3 last week. Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (92 points) falls back to No. 3 with Chapman University (85 points) staying at No. 4.

Occidental College (77 points) and California Lutheran University (77 points) move into a tie at No. 5, while the University of Redlands (73 points) drops back to No. 7.

The University of La Verne (63 points), Connecticut College (62 points) and Grove City College (33 points) complete the Top 10, with Washington & Jefferson College (22 points) also receiving votes.

2014 CWPA Top 10 Poll (Week 6)

The 2012 and 2013 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) champion Tigers of Princeton University continue to rate as the top-ranked team in the conference, picking up 98 points to edge out Indiana University (97 points) for a second week-in-a-row and remain the top team in the CWPA Top 10 Week 6/February 26 Poll.

Behind the Tigers and Hoosiers, the remainder of the Top 10 is relatively unchanged as Hartwick College (89 points), the University of Michigan (85 points) and Harvard University (80 points) complete the Top Five.

Brown University (74 points) and Bucknell University (72 points) continue at No. 6 and 7 for another week, while George Washington University (64 points), Mercyhurst University (61 points) andGannon University (55 points) round out the Top 10.

2014 CWPA Division III Poll (Week 6)

Connecticut College, which claimed the 2013 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship last season to earn a spot in the league's CWPA Championship, maintains the No. 1 position in the CWPA Division III Top Five Week 6/February 26 Poll.

The Camels (99 points) lead a Top Five which experienced no changes from the previous polls of the season as Washington & Jefferson College (95 points) holds on at No. 2 with Grove City College (89 points) continuing at No. 3.

Macalester College (85 points) and Carthage College (82 points) continue to rate at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, to complete the league's Division III rankings.
