Arizona State Jumps To Seventh In Latest Varsity Top 20

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The University of Southern California remains the No. 1 team in the country by topping the Women's National Top 20 to highlight the 2014 Women's Varsity Top 20, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top 10 and CWPA Division III Top Five Week 4/February 12 Polls released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).

The top teams in three of the four polls remain unchanged from last week's edition as USC (National Top 20), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Divsion III Top 10), Princeton University (CWPA Top 10) andConnecticut College (CWPA Division III Top Five) hold on at No. 1.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Big West Conference, Golden Coast Conference, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2014 Varsity Top 20 (Week 4)

The University of Southern California remains the top-ranked team in the country as the Women of Troy ascend to the ranks of a unanimous No. 1 pick in topping the 2014 Women's Varsity National Top 20 Week 4/February 12 Poll.

The Top Five remain steady behind USC (100 points) with Stanford (95 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (90 points), the University of California(85 points) and the University of California-Irvine (80 points) staying put in their No. 2-to-5 rankings from the Week 3 voting.

The University of Hawaii (74 points) acquires sole possession of the No. 6 spot following a week of sharing the position with the University of California-San Diego. Arizona State University (70 points),Princeton University (62 points) and Loyola Marymount University (61 points) creep up to take over at No. 7-to-9, respectively, while California State University-Northridge (55 points) jumps six spots to break into the Top 10 at No. 10.

Long Beach State University (49 points) and San Jose State University (46 points) move up to No. 11 and 12, with the University of California-San Diego (42 points) dropping back to No. 13.

The University of California-Davis (36 points) and Indiana University (28 points) complete the Top 15, with the University of California-Santa Barbara (24 points) and Santa Clara University (24 points) tying at No. 16.

San Diego State University (12 points) and California Baptist University (10 points) stand at No. 18 and 19, while Hartwick College (4 points), Wagner College (4 points) and the University of Michigan (4 points) complete the Top 20 in a three-way tie for the final position in the rankings.

2014 Division III Poll (Week 4)

After a brief stint at No. 2 two weeks ago, the defending Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) champion Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (95 points) continues to stand on top of the Division III rankings as the Sagehens held off Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (92 points) in the Women's Varsity Division III Top 10 Week 4/February 12 Poll.

Changes are plentiful in the first six positions of the poll as Chapman University (87 points) moves into a tie with Occidental College (87 points) at No. 3, while Whittier College (83 points) inches in front of California Lutheran University (77 points) to take over at No. 5.

The University of Redlands (71 points), Connecticut College (64 points), the University of La Verne(60 points) and Grove City College (33 points) hold on at No. 6-to-10 for another week.

Washington & Jefferson College (26 points) receives votes this week as the Presidents moved to within seven points of breaking into the Top 10.

2014 CWPA Top 10 Poll (Week 4)

The 2012 and 2013 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) champion Tigers of Princeton University continues to rate as the top-ranked team in the conference, picking up 99 points to remain the top team in the CWPA Top 10 Week 4/February 12 Poll.

Overall, the Top 10 experienced no changes in the first seven positions from the first two weeks of voting as Indiana University (96 points) and the University of Michigan (87 points) follow in order at No. 2 and 3, respectively.

Hartwick College (84 points), Harvard University (81 points) and Brown University (78 points) round out the top six, while Bucknell University (68 points) continues at No. 7 for another week.

The only change in the Top 10 comes at No. 8 as Mercyhurst University (63 points) edges past George Washington University (62 points). Gannon University (57 points) completes the Top 10.

2014 CWPA Division III Poll (Week 4)

Connecticut College, which claimed the 2013 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship last season to earn a spot in the league's CWPA Championship, maintains the No. 1 position in the CWPA Division III Top Five Week 4/February 12 Poll.

The Camels (99 points) lead a Top Five which experienced no changes from the previous three polls of the season as Washington & Jefferson College(96 points) holds on at No. 2 with Grove City College (88 points) continuing at No. 3.

Macalester College (85 points) and Carthage College (82 points) continue to rate at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, to complete the league's Division III rankings.
