Irvine, CA - August 5 - The world's largest water polo tournament, featuring over 9,000 athletes, concluded yesterday in Orange County, California as the 2013 Junior Olympics came to a close. As for the medalists of Session 2, in the 10U Co-Ed Championship Vanguard Blue defeated United 7-3 for gold and OCWPC topped Shore Aquatics Red 9-5 for bronze. In the 10U Co-Ed Classic Division, Northwood Navy beat Riverside 8-2 for gold and Trojan WPC edged Newport Beach WP 8-6 for bronze. In the 12U Girls Championship it was Santa Barbra A beating Diablo WPC 7-2 for gold and 680 Red by a goal over United, 9-8 for bronze.
In the 14U Girls Championship 680 Red got past Santa Barbara 9-8 for gold and San Diego Shores A defeated Rose Bowl A 12-7 for bronze. In the 16U Girls Championship SET topped Commerce 6-4 for gold and SOCAL Black took down Rose Bowl A 10-6 for bronze. Moving to the 16U Girls Classic Northwood Navy was two goals better than International winning 11-9 for gold. Alliance downed Newport WPF 8-2 for bronze.
In the 18U Girls Championship Santa Barbara A beat Huntington Beach Blue 8-5 for gold and SET edged SOCAL Black 7-6 for bronze. CDM Aquatics won gold in the 18U Girls Classic, defeating Elite 10-6 while Riverside got past Huntington Beach Orange 5-4 in a shootout after an 8-8 tie, to grab bronze.
