Huntington Beach, CA – November 18 – The 2010 14 & U Champions Cup concluded this past weekend in Shenandoah, Texas with the girls of Tustin, California and the boys of San Diego, California taking home the Gold Medals in their respective divisions.
Along with the awarding of the medals, a special part of closing out the Champions Cup is awarding the Maureen O'Toole and Jody Campbell Awards for sportsmanship. While many tournaments give out MVP awards, the Champions Cup and formerly the Speedo Cup have a long history of awarding a member of each team participating for outstanding sportsmanship over the course of the tourney. The awards are named in honor of two legends in the game of water polo and two Olympic medalists in O'Toole and Campbell.
The national recipients were Peter Doetsch of Annapolis and Christina Manzella of Tustin. Below is a full list of all the team recipients recognized from the 2010 14 & U Champions Cup. Congratulations to all those selected.
