BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The University of Southern California and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remain at No. 1 in the nation as the Trojans and Sagehens top the Week 6/October 13 Men's Varsity Top 20 and Division III Top 10 polls released today by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).
In the CWPA Top 10 Poll, St. Francis College (N.Y.) held onto the No. 1 ranking in the conference for another week.
Voted on by a panel of coaches and administrators from around the country during the preseason and each week of the season based on the cumulative results of each team, the Varsity Top 20, Division III Top 10 and Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 10 polls are released on Wednesday during the season until the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
Men's Varsity Top 20
Thanks to a slew of upsets, including a 5-3 loss by the University of Southern California to Stanford UniversityUniversity of California over the University of California-Los Angeles, the USC Trojans reign at No. 1 in the National Men's Varsity Top 20 Poll appeared in peril. and an 11-8 victory by the
However, the Trojans run continues for another week as USC picked up 96 points to edge out formerly No. 1 ranked California (95) to hold onto the No. 1 ranking.
Overall, the top six positions in the poll were scrambled behind USC as Cal moves up to No. 2, UCLA slides to No. 3, Stanford moves up to No. 4, the University of California-Irvine slides to No. 5 and the University of California-Santa Barbara falls to No. 6.
Unlike the top of the poll, positions No. 7-13 remain relatively unchanged with University of the Pacific, Long Beach State University, University of California-San Diego, Loyola Marymount University, University of California-Davis, Santa Clara University and Pepperdine University holding on. The only change occurred at No. 11 as Santa Clara moved into a tie with UC-Davis.
The No. 14-20 slots also experienced some change as California Baptist University moved ahead of St. Francis College (N.Y.) to take over at No. 14, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and the United States Naval Academy rose to No. 16 and 18, Princeton University and Brown University held at No. 17 and 20, while Concordia University (Calif.) dropped to No. 19.

Men's Varsity Division III Top 10
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges holds on as the No. 1 selection in the Week 6/October 13 Men's Varsity Division III Top 10 poll.
The Sagehens, who replaced the University of Redlands in the standings as the No. 1 team three weeks ago, saw their lead dwindle to four points over the Bulldogs (99-to-96).
Johns Hopkins University moves up to No. 3 this week on the heels of back-to-back one goal losses to Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands, while Whittier College slides to No. 4 in the wake of a 7-5 loss to JHU over the weekend.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges rounds out the Top Five for another week, with Chapman University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Occidental College, California Lutheran University and the University of La Verne completing the Top 10.
Washington & Jefferson College finishes off the rankings as the Presidents received 11 points to miss out on cracking the Top 10 for another week.

Men's CWPA Top 10
St. Francis College (N.Y.) continues to roll along on top of the Collegiate Water Polo Assocaition (CWPA) as the Terriers retained their position as the No. 1 team in the Week 56October 13 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men's Varsity Division III Top 10 poll.
Princeton University, the United States Naval Academy, Brown University and Johns Hopkins University rank No. 2-5, respectively, as the top half of the poll remains unchanged from the October 6 balloting.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology moves up two places to No. 6, while Bucknell University and George Washington University are tied at No. 7. Mercyhurst College and Fordham University complete the Top 10, with Harvard University and Queens College (N.Y.) receiving votes.
