USA Water Polo Announces Victory 2012 Campaign

Huntington Beach, Calif. – January 31, 2010 – USA Water Polo is proud to announce The Victory Campaign, a $750,000 fundraising initiative to support high-level performance at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.  The campaign will bolster training efforts of the National Teams and their respective pipelines beginning this year. "Our national team athletes make many sacrifices to earn the privilege of representing our country on the world stage," said Christopher Ramsey, CEO of USAWP, "They deserve our full measure of support."

"Winning a gold medal in London will not be possible without the contributions of our entire water polo family.  We are building something very special and I invite everyone to be a part of it," added USA Men's Head Coach Terry Schroeder.

"People who play our sport are unique," said USA Women's Head Coach Adam Krikorian.  "I hope we can all get behind our teams, no matter the size of the donation."

The challenges of getting to the Olympic podium every four years remain great.   The USA Water Polo Men's and Women's Teams both earned silver medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing.  USA Water Polo has authored a high performance plan endorsed by the United States Olympic Committee that includes more funding for the national teams, creation of a new Core 016 group aiming for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and enhanced training and competition for youth and junior teams to strengthen our national team pipeline and connect it seamlessly to the ODP program and the USA Water Polo club system.

Two distinct logos recognizing the men's and women's quest for victory have been created to highlight the Victory 2012 Campaign. Featuring Olympic athletes at their height of competitive excellence, the logos will serve as a reminder of where each and every contribution is headed: to provide greater training and competition to our national team athletes.

Whether a donation is small or large, each one will help towards the ultimate goal of getting the USA National Teams in a position to return to the Olympic Podium. Donors to the Victory 2012 Campaign will receive advance notice and priority ticketing for National Team events, the Olympic Development newsletter, as well as an invitation to an exclusive event featuring players and coaches from the National Teams. They will also be listed among USA Water Polo patrons in the annual report and on the website.  Special giving opportunities will be available for higher capacity donors as well.
