Stockton, California July 22- Day 2 of the Women's 20 & Under National Championships was an intense day of competition as teams attempted to book their place in the qualifying rounds.
At the UOP Aquatic Center the day started off with a dominating win for Diablo over LAWPC 10-3. The win was not enough to give Diablo the top seed in the bracket, but enough for a second seed where they faced SET, the top seed from Bracket D. SET was yet to lose a game in the tournament before going to battle with Diablo. After four tough quarters the two teams were locked in at 4 goals a piece, ending the game in a tie.
CHAWP White remains undefeated, going 2 for 2 on the day and 4-0 overall defeating Houston in their first game 16-6, earning them a top spot in Bracket A. In bracket play they went on to defeat the number two team from Bracket D, American River 11-7.
The opening game at St. Mary's Aquatic Center, Stanford Red continued their winning streak defeating So Cal 13-10, placing them a top of Bracket B. In the qualifying round Stanford Red dominated the second seed from Bracket C, NCSD 18-2. Stanford Red not only is undefeated (4-0) in the tournament, they are the hottest team by far, only giving up 23 goals while scoring an astonishing 65 goals in four games.
As the second round of bracket play started off with four crucial matches, the number one seeds attempted to continue their route to the Championship game.
SET, a top seed from Bracket D defeated CHAWP White from Bracket A, on a 6-5 battle advancing SET to the next round.
Both second seeded teams Diablo from Bracket A and American River from Bracket D competed to proceed deeper into to the tournament. American River came out on top defeating Diablo 9-8 in a close match.
SBWPC attempted to stop the high powered offense of top seed from Bracket B, Stanford Red. Unfortunately, they were not able to keep the Stanford attack at bay. Stanford went on to defeat SBWPC 11-6.
Last but not least, the remaining two second seeded teams went head to head as SOCAL from Bracket B locked horns with NSCD from Bracket C. Coming out on top was SOCAL defeating NCSD 11-4.
Today the action resumes, as teams continue to proceed to chase their goal to the top.
