Huntington Beach, CA - July 21 - Speedo Grants were awarded by USA Water Polo to four different organizations over the last several months. The four clubs awarded were Xtreme Water Polo, Knight Water Polo, Bear River Swimming Association, and the Georgia Sports Foundation.
Each organization had to submit a grant application stating how they would use the money to better water polo in their area or for their club. Groups received between $500 and $1000 dollars.
The Georgia Sports Foundation received $500 with the following goal in mind: To promote positive educational initiatives with schools, governments, and other local entities to help develop the sport of water polo in the Atlanta market and later branch out across the rest of the state.
The Bear River Swimming Association received $1000 hoping: To purchase floating cages which will provide safer equipment for players' use and allow more people to get in the pool and develop water polo skills. The floating cages would be used to set-up 2 courses and therefore get twice as many people playing at a time.
Xtreme Water Polo was awarded $1000 to help: purchase equipment that is targeted to 10 and under players including balls, cages, and caps. Purchasing equipment for this age group will help support the growth and development in the Inland Empire which has traditionally had more opportunities for youth players in football, baseball and soccer.
Lastly Knight Water Polo was awarded $1000 because: Additional funding is needed for increased pool time for practice and tournaments to focus on the development and encouragement of youth water polo in the New York City area.
