The men's season got started in Europe with Champions League Qualification Round matches to determine six teams set to join twelve seeded clubs with their spot already secure. Those clubs include Pro Recco and Team USA attacker

Team USA utility man
Jack Larsen and Sabadell played host to Vasas and Spandau 04 in the Qualification Round's lone three-team group. Sabadell lost to Vasas, 12-10, after a bye but will continue on to the Group Stage after securing second place over Spandau 04.

Spandau 04 was relegated to the Euro Cup Qualification Round following the last place finish in Champions League qualification but they rebounded with a 14-10 win over Apollon Smyrnis and Team USA attacker
Hannes Daube. Apollon responded to the opening defeat with a 14-12 victory over Sport Management in which Daube scored a game-high four goals to lead the way for the Greek side. In the final match of the Qualification Round, Apollon beat ZV De Zaan, 23-15, to secure second place in Group A. The four runners-up each finished with six points, leaving goal difference as the deciding factor. Vouliagmeni (+14), Steaua (+14), and Szolnok (+8) ultimately advanced, while Apollon (+6) were eliminated from Euro Cup contention. Team USA goalkeeper
